Schedule of the Royal Cremation Ceremony

14 – 19 December 2026


1. 14 December – Royal Merit-Making Ceremony at the Royal Crematorium


This day marks the beginning of the royal ceremony.

A royal merit-making ceremony will be conducted at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall to prepare for the transfer of the Royal Urn to the Royal Crematorium on the following day.


2. 15 December – Royal Cremation Day (Main Ceremony)


This is the most important day of the royal ceremony and consists of three main stages:


Morning:

The Royal Urn will be transferred from Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall to the Royal Crematorium at Sanam Luang through Royal Processions No. 1, 2, and 3 in full royal honor.


Evening:

The symbolic royal cremation ceremony will be conducted.


Night:

The actual royal cremation ceremony will take place.


3. 16 December – Collection of the Royal Relics


After the cremation ceremony is completed, the Royal Relics (bones) and Royal Ashes will be collected at the Royal Crematorium.

They will then be transferred back to the Grand Palace through Royal Procession No. 4.


4. 17 December – Merit-Making Ceremony for the Royal Relics


A royal merit-making ceremony will be held to honor the Royal Relics after their return, at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall.


5. 18 December – Enshrinement of the Royal Relics


The Royal Relics will be transferred from Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall and permanently enshrined at the Royal Shrine in Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall, using Royal Procession No. 5.


6. 19 December – Ceremony for the Placement of the Royal Ashes


This is the final day of the royal ceremony.

The Royal Ashes will be transferred from Phra Si Rattana Chedi and placed at designated royal temples.


The procession will be conducted using Royal Procession No. 6 (the Royal Horse Guards Procession), marking the completion of the royal cremation ceremonies.
